And people are shouting “But it was ONside!”

Yesterday the second to last leg of the Swedish football league, Allsvenskan, was finalized. Impending champs, AIK (our team; Sweden's pride), drew against Örebro (farmers), 1-1. Nothing odd about that and a result which puts AIK in the front seat of Sunday’s concluding round, when leader AIK meets runner up by one point and only contender, IFK Göteborg (fishermen) in the biggest game of the century, or ever. AIK are crowned national heroes by draw and win, IFK Göteborg have to win to secure the spot as the best team in Sweden.

So, back to yesterday’s game. Örebro scored 1-0, in what hi-tech machinery afterwards has proven, should have been an approved goal. But referee blew the whistle for offside. It wasn’t. It was onside by 0.7m and everyone has gone mad.
Ballistic.
They can’t believe it.
Örebro – not to mention poor IFK Göteborg – was robbed by the chance to ride shotgun for Sunday’s fixture.
Now. How many times haven’t a regular goal been dismissed by – a wrongful and overly excited referee – for offside*, when everything has shown afterwards that it was onside. Everyone then blames the shooter and the team for having to “cope with risk of flawed human nature” and should just “get on with it”. Until a regular goal has been called off, of course. Heck, then we should have goal-cameras, GPS enabled ball and slow-mo reruns of each shot and pass.
I have nothing, really, against hypocrites. It’s just that they’re so darn, annoyingly hypocritical.

*Rhetorical question
